I wonder, is Sgt. Tom Van Dorn of the Phoenix Police related to Scottsdale insurance company owner David Dorn?

A teenager was fatally shot in the chest Tuesday night in a Phoenix neighborhood.

The victim was found on the ground when police arrived at the home on the 2100 block of West Turney Avenue, near 19th Avenue and Indian School Road, Phoenix Police Department Sgt. Tom Van Dorn said.

Police tried to perform CPR on the victim while waiting for the fire department to arrive, but the teen was unresponsive, police said.

He was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, where he later died.

Van Dorn said the suspect is still on the loose.

Luis Calderon, an 18-year-old resident in the neighborhood, said he was already outside when he heard one gunshot that sounded really loud.

He said that about five seconds later, he heard two more gunshots, fired one right after the other.

Calderon said it was then that he thought this was a drive-by shooting.

He said he saw a small, gray sedan driving with its headlights turned off away from the crime scene. It then turned onto a side street, heading against the normal flow of traffic.

Van Dorn said police are receiving conflicting stories from some of the witnesses and that he couldn't confirm the claim that this was a drive-by shooting.

He also said police were still investigating.
